You have gone out to put the rubbish out along a steep street in the old town and the door has shut with the keys inside, or you are back from a hike through the gorge and the lock will not turn. In Álora, a municipality of rugged terrain and settlements far apart from one another, an emergency like that can catch you a long way from any help. Message us on WhatsApp with your location: our locksmiths reply at any hour, and on public holidays too.
The old town of Álora has winding streets from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries, built beneath the Moorish castle on the hill of Las Torres. Below and around it lie the other settlements: El Puente, the most populated after the town itself, Bermejo-Caracuel, Bellavista, the Barriada Estación, Las Mellizas, Los Llanos and Paredones-Cerrajones. Further from the town is El Chorro, next to the reservoir and the Gaitanes Gorge, close to the Caminito del Rey and a well-known climbing area. Citrus and olive trees dominate the countryside, and three railway stations serve the municipality.
Álora welcomes those who arrive for the Caminito del Rey and those who live here all year round, and their doors fail for different reasons: the resident's because of years of use, the holiday rental's because of the comings and goings of guests. Between one settlement and another there are winding roads, so a clear location in your message is a great help.
